Is it safe to say this was the American Countach? Not as fast but just as brash in the styling department.

I’d hit that.

Fat slow and all. I’d still hit it

I think the coke bottle body is gorgeous. I have always loved them.

68-72 and then to a lesser extent 78-82 are the best styled Vettes of all time and my first pick for a vintage Vette.

CROSS. FIRE. INJECTION.
I NEED MY CORVETTE TO BE THE MOST CORVETTE OF CORVETTES SO I NEED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW MY ENGINE IS BETTER EVEN IF ITS SLOW BECAUSE IT HAS CROSS. FIRE. INJECTION.
Crossfire injection - the trickle down economics of fuel injection. Also trickles down like the fuel leaking out of the injectors. Or the urine leaking out of the man behind the wheel. Or dick trickle.
TRICKLE? FICKLE? PICKLE? THATS WHAT HAPPENS - THE CROSS. FIRE. INJECTION. LEAVES YOU IN A PICKLE!
The one piece all glass liftback on the 1982 corvette gave me a fetish for small chested women wearing tube tops....a feitsh that stayed with me for THREE OF THE LONGEST PRESIDENTIAL ADMINISTRATIONS OF MY LIIIIIIIFE.

It says 70s to me. The 80s were more angular. It’s true that like the Countach, the C3 was a pretty brash and vulgar car design, especially when compared to the timeless elegance of the Sting Ray.

It does look very different from anything else the Big 3 were producing in the early 1980s. And it has aged far better than anything else from that era, too.
With crossfire injection and the 700R4, though, it pretty much is a looker only. Upgrade that and you have a hell of a ride.

I think Cletus has been making a pretty good case that the C3 is actually the American Maserati Ghibli. Consulier as mkbruin suggested might be more *on*.

I always considered that the Farrah Fawcett 70's style. Still like it way better than what followed. I’m not much of a Corvette guy and never drove a C3, so what do I know.

68-72 is my favorite generation as well. Metal bumpers, svelte styling and powerful engines.

I’d love to have a C3 of that era with upgraded brakes and an LS3 swap.

I cannot be the only one that finds that thing atrocious to behold.

Powerful engines is relative given the SAE gross HP ratings that were used at the time, but they were certainly pretty from that time period.

Good point - at least I think those were all pre-smog, correct?
![]() 12/14/2016 at 11:59 |

They were all pre-smog, so they weren’t dogs. They just weren’t actually making anything near what they were rated at.

I disagree, I can’t stand the end of the C3 era and it’s what kills them from being my favorite gen of Corvette.
I’d rather take a C4 than an 82.

If you’re referring to the mid year 63/67 Vette I’ve always preferred the 68/72

Upgrade indeed

C4 has a place in Corvette lure however, it is quite a different story the C3

I see no one here in agreement

Yes, I’ve noticed.

To each their own I suppose

Montegoman has your back but he isn’t very good company (he likes Mercurys after all). Time to reevaluate your life.

Well shit

The 1982 Corvette was an awful car imo.
BUT, this 1982 song about a Corvette was and still is awesome: https://open.spotify.com/track/4iozhXt27eMl39W5z7R8H6?si=GnBgK2Tz
